Robert Odell, MD, PhD, is a distinguished pain specialist at Associated Pain Specialists, in Knoxville and Johnson City, Tennessee, who provides exceptional services for men and women living in the East Tennessee region. Dr. Odell has spent years studying the mechanics of pain and finding better ways to help people affected by chronic pain conditions. He welcomes anyone who has a musculoskeletal pain problem, including those who’ve been unable to find effective treatments elsewhere.
Dr. Odell’s medical career began with an impressive scientific education. He started by studying at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He then completed a master’s degree at Stanford University in California, where he remained to complete both his medical degree and a doctorate degree in biomedical engineering.
After leaving Stanford University, Dr. Odell went to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, for his internship. He followed this with an orthopedic residency at the University of California in Los Angeles, before taking up a post as a surgical assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, California. Dr. Odell also spent time at the University of California, and Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, as chief resident in Anesthesiology.
Dr. Odell is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Academy of Pain Management. He holds a competency certificate in fluoroscopy and radiation safety, and is a Fellow of Interventional Pain Management. Dr. Odell has also published several influential papers in respected medical journals.
